Exhibition Reviews

Here is a selection of freelance work and exhibition reviews I wrote for Artbeat, an arts newspaper in Christchurch, NZ. For each exhibition, I take my time absorbing the experience to get a sense of the atmosphere framed by its tension points.

I also collect as much information as I can from the crevices I can access before I sit down to write. I consume gallery podcasts and publications alongside speaking to staff, artists and curators, to synthesise an informed and personal approach. I enjoy playing with words to describe such encounters, especially when highlighting under-appreciated shows or underrepresented groups – and what still magnetises from the event.
