I am an avid journal writer, especially when I am anxious, which is a lot of the time. This unnamed diary entry was selected to be included in the first issue of Raid.R, an artist-run publication featuring emerging creatives created by Laurie Martin. In it, I agonise about the process of writing, pleading with it, as if ‘it’ could respond to me. It was also written around the time when I first encountered the infamous post-apocalyptic short story I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream by Harlan Ellison, first published in 1967. The language and imagery that final scene conjured was something I couldn’t shake, even to this day.
