Artist Statements

I relish any opportunity to support an artist seeking words for their artist statement and biography. As an artist myself, I absolutely understand the importance of this text as it has to simultaneously introduce a dynamic practice and convey the intricate sensibilities of the artist, especially for onlookers who have not experienced their work in person yet.

I investigate the artist’s practice by effectively conducting a casual interview into their work: burrowing into their motivations, inspirations, processes, even how they speak and describe their pieces. Of course, I make sure I understand what the artist wants first - the specific tone, length, and how much they want to reveal. It is ultimately a collaboration, artist to artist. In the end, we both get to witness the birth of a new text, and enjoy a wonderful afternoon chat!
